relax  & rejuvenate

Wouldn't it be blissful to enjoy a relaxing treatment and float upstairs to your bedroom afterwards?

The Healing Space is a treatment room within the house where I offer traditional acupuncture and reflexology.

Originating in China, traditional acupuncture dates back nearly two thousand years and sees pain and illness as signs that the body is out of balance.  Physical, mental and emotional health are seen as interdependent in traditional Chinese medicine and balancing one of these aspects can have a knock on effect on your whole being.  It is not uncommon for people to seek treatment for a bad back, for example, and then find that their low mood and response to stress also improves following treatment.

After an in-depth consultation where I will ask you lots of questions about your health and lifestyle, the treatment involves the insertion of very fine, sterile needles into energy points along channels on your body aiming to restore your equilibrium and move your energy (chi).

People feel a variety of sensations during treatment and it can happen that patients feel so relaxed they doze off.  The strongest sensation is usually when the needle is inserted through the skin (this is where the sensory nerve endings are) and the feeling can be momentarily sharp or sometimes a dull ache.  Needles are left in place for approximately 20 minutes.  All you need to do is lie down and relax in a warm, comfortable room!

Perfect for tired feet after a day's sightseeing on the North York Moors or after walking the Cleveland Way, reflexology is a wonderful way to induce a deep feeling of relaxation and to leave you with an increased sense of wellbeing.

By applying massage and gentle pressure to the feet, reflexology can help lower stress levels and promote better sleep. A truly relaxing treatment to help bring you back into balance.
